FIRST TIME IN U. S. BY JOHN KELSO
"In the early Thirties or late Twenties Walter Kelso commissioned his brother, Frank Kelso (a well known fowl breeder), to produce a superior cock. Using the Madigin Claret given to Walter by Col. Madigin, my father, Frank Kelso, perfected what is now known as the Kelso Fowl. Using the Claret Cock, he crossed it with the McClanahan - Murphy Whitehackle & Albany. He produced what is now known as the Kelso Cock. Satisfied he had produced a superior cock, he was then ready to return the brood yards back to his brother, Walter, with the exception of one brood yard that was given to me for helping my dad over the years. I continued to raise stags from this brood yard for my uncle until I was of age. These birds were the best then and are still winning today." After the passing of John Kelso about 15 years ago, he left his farm to Mr. J.L. Bradshaw.
